60 DAYS MATERNITY LEAVE

Guidelines for availing 60 days maternity leave under University of Calicut,

1.Female candidates who have attained the age of 18 years can avail maternity leave either for 6months as per U O No 14942/2016/Admn dated 26.12.2016 or for 60 days without being year back, whichever is convenient to them.

2. Female candidates can avail 60 days maternity leave only ONCE during the entire programme.

3. Candidate shall apply at least one month in advance to the Principal of the College or the Head of the University Department for granting Maternity Leave.

4. 60 days maternity leave shall be taken within a year, not exceeding two semesters (consecutive semesters).

5.The 60 days Maternity Leave can be granted by the Principal in the case of affiliated College and Head of Department in case of University Teaching Department. The candidate has to report back to the Principal /HOI after the expiry of the leave.

6. Upon rejoining after the maternity leave, the attendance percentage required to register for examination shall be calculated based on the remaining days (excluding the period of leave availed) of the semester concerned. Other leave or absence shall not be condoned.

7. If the candidate, who has secured the required percentage of attendance in a semester fails to attend the regular examination due to maternity leave, she shall be permitted to attend the exam (both Theory and Practical ) with the immediate junior batch treating the exam session as regular.

8. If the candidate fails to attain the required percentage of attendance in a semester, she shall be provided the following options .

I For theory

She can opt an equivalent MOOC from SWAYAM portal / MOODLE as decided by the faculty concerned. OR

She can attend the supplementary examinations of the semester concerned. In such cases the candidate shall repeat the semester

II For Practical

The candidate can either do an equivalent mini project with the approval of  the Faculty/HOD/Principal concerned. OR

Attend practical sessions at off time/ Saturdays or any convenient time subject to the convenience of the college concerned and attend the exam along with the junior batch.

9. Mandatory regulations will be applicable to the candidates, who undergo programmes which require statutory registration in apex bodies.

10. The above norms is applicable to all programmes under University of Calicut except PhD Programme, which is covered under Research Regulations.
